Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib were among 34 people arrested on Tuesday afternoon outside of the Supreme Court, where they were protesting for abortion rights, CBS reports.
In total, 16 members of Congress were detained. Per Capitol police, protesters were issued three warnings before they were arrested for blocking traffic on First Street, NE.
CBS adds that protests have taken place outside the court since Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, and people who can become pregnant were stripped of their constitutional right to an abortion.
Several images and videos of the Congress members being arrested have circulated on Twitter.
