QuickBooks is a veteran in the accounting software industry. It’s been one of the most popular desktop solutions since 1992. While the company has since expanded to online accounting software, many businesses still prefer its desktop solutions.
QuickBooks Premier Plus is the midtier desktop accounting plan. It costs $549.99 a year but that only includes access for one user. You can add on four additional users―for a total of five―for $300 a user.
In addition to standard accounting features, such as tracking sales and customer payments, viewing unpaid vendor bills and tracking product costs, Premier Plus also lets you run more than 150 industry-specific reports in the contractor, manufacturing and wholesale, nonprofit, professional services and retail niches. For example, contractors can create a jobs-by-vendor report that lets them see what they still owe for materials while nonprofit businesses can create end-of-year donation statements.
Along with these 150 reports, you’ll also be able to enter up to 14,500 inventory items, which should be more than enough for most businesses. Your chart of accounts can also hold up to 10,000 entries, which again, should be ample.
Getting payments from your customers is easier thanks to automatic payment reminders. If you’ve done several jobs for a client, you can consolidate multiple invoices into one email so they aren’t overloaded with spam. After a customer pays, you can present an air of professionalism with personalized payment receipts.
As you can see from this QuickBooks Premier review, the software is a solid pick, which is why it made our list of the top accounting software for small businesses.
