Monica Bennett, Director of Thought Leadership, GI Hub

Monica leads the development, delivery and dissemination of the GI Hub’s strategic and innovation-focused programs of work, including work streams on innovative funding and financing, InfraTech, infrastructure futures and transformative infrastructure post-COVID. Prior to GI Hub, Monica established and grew Isle Utilities in the APAC region. Isle is a boutique consultancy whose aim is to accelerate the commercialisation of water technology across the globe. She was Managing Director for Isle Australia (between 2011-2015) and most recently led their expansion into South East Asia as Head of Technology and Innovation Consulting.

Marie Lam-Frendo, CEO, GI Hub

Marie was appointed CEO by the Board of the Global Infrastructure Hub in 2019. Prior to joining the GI Hub, she was the Head of Asia-Pacific for Acuity, the advisory services business of the SNCL group, helping clients in regard to infrastructure project strategy and finance. From 2011 to 2014, Marie headed the Infrastructure Initiatives department of the World Economic Forum, where she led their thought leadership activities, publishing thought leadership reports on best practices in the infrastructure sector.

Patrick Hill, Executive Vice President, Jacobs

Patrick jointly leads Jacobs’ People & Places Solutions business of around 35,000 professionals across the globe. He is a chemical engineer by background and has held various executive roles in Jacobs’ global operations. He currently oversees all of Jacobs’ buildings and infrastructure operations outside of North America. Major programs include the upgrade of Palace of Westminster, London Olympics, Dubai Expo 2020, Changi Airport Terminal 5 and Melbourne Metro. Through its strategic relationship with Simetrica, Jacobs is also at the forefront of a number of social value programs including the implementation of the world’s first ultra low emission zone in London and a recent study on “The Wellbeing Costs of COVID-19 in the UK” in collaboration with the London School of Economics.

Jonathan Winer, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners

Jonathan is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners (SIP), which applies innovative technology to urban infrastructure systems. Over two decades in private equity, Jonathan has led investments of over $2 billion. Previously, Jonathan was Head of Investments at Sidewalk Labs, Alphabet’s urban innovation platform. In this role, Jonathan managed dedicated investment funds related to technology, real estate, and infrastructure and was responsible for Sidewalk Labs’ business model and financing strategy. He previously founded Nereus in 2009, a private equity fund that invests in alternative energy infrastructure in Asia. Prior to Nereus, Jonathan worked at the D. E. Shaw group where he built the private equity team across venture capital, growth equity, and structured finance.

Mohamed-Maher Mannai, Head of Institution and Funds at Economic Empowerment Department, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)

Mohamed-Maher Mannai has experience across small and medium enterprise financing, investment banking and impact investment in four continents (Africa, Asia, Europe and South America). He is currently heading the financial institutions and funds within the economic empowerment department at IsDB, in charge of launching economic empowerment banks and impact funds in IsDB member countries. Previously, at the Islamic Corporation for the development of Private Sector, Mohamed headed the Islamic Financial Institutions Division and was instrumental in establishing a global footprint of new full-fledged Islamic banks.

Uma Adusumilli, Chief of the Planning Division, Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA)

Uma has headed the regional planning division of MMRDA since 2004, with a remit of regional planning and development, financing and coordination. She worked from 1989 to 2004 as an urban planner with the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), a new town planning and development agency of the Government of Maharashtra.  She represented India in International Comparative Research projects supported by the British DFID and the Inter-American Development Bank, considering housing for low-income groups – with emphasis on land supply, regulatory framework and partnerships. Uma published and presented papers at numerous urban development and management forums. 

Emily King, Senior Lead for Social Value, Jacobs  (Europe)

Based in the UK, Emily King supports clients intent on generating wider societal value from their infrastructure projects; working with them to devise mechanisms to optimise social value, apply inclusive growth models to augment business cases and assess socio-economic, social, health and equality impacts of interventions. In 2019 she co-authored the joint consultation response made by Jacobs and Simetrica-Jacobs to the ‘Social Value in Government Procurement’ consultation, issued to the UK Cabinet Office.

Sarah Alexander, Regional Solutions Director – Strategic Consulting (APAC), Jacobs

Sarah has worked in both the social enterprise and infrastructure sectors, seeking to drive systems change by providing strategic advice and crafting design responses that support equitable social and economic transformation. In 2020 she co-authored the thought leadership paper ‘Before & Beyond the Build: A blueprint for creating enduring social value at scale through infrastructure investments.
