Lindsay Lohan is officially back in the movie-making business.
Back in March, it was announced that the 36-year-old was making her long-awaited return to acting with a two-picture Netflix deal, starting with the holiday rom-com Falling For Christmas. In the movie, Lohan will be playing “a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”
“I feel like what we don’t have enough of right now is romantic comedies. And that’s exactly what it is: It’s a really fun, uplifting romantic comedy,” she told Glamour in February before the title was announced. “When I read the script and when we started to film it, I didn’t realize how physically funny we were going to be. There’s a lot of physical comedy in it, which I really liked doing—it’s one of my favorite things to do, which I haven’t got to in a while.
She continued, “This first movie was perfect for me, because I really want to do something happy and fun and family-oriented. I like doing that. I miss seeing romantic comedies, and less of the horror [genre]. I want to keep it happy.”
Now we finally know more about the second Netflix rom-com Lohan has signed on for, and it sounds a lot like Freaky Friday…if instead of switching places with Jamie Lee Curtis, Lohan switched places with a blushing bride. On September 1, Netflix announced that Lohan will star in Irish Wish, which follows “a bridesmaid at the wedding of her best friend and love of her life in Ireland.”
However, Maddie (Lohan) ends up becoming the bride-to-be after making a “spontaneous wish for true love.” The press statement adds, “With her wish coming true, she quickly realizes that her true love is not who she thought he was.”
