‘Partner Track’ on Netflix: What You Need to Know About the ‘Sex and the City’ Meets ‘Suits’ Hybrid

Partner Track on Netflix is what you get when you cross an iconic show about powerhouse women navigating relationships à la Sex and the City with a series about kickass lawyers like those from Suits. The new show follows Ingrid Yun, an idealistic young lawyer who struggles with her moral compass and her passions as she fights to climb the partner track at an elite New York City law firm. Basically, perfect viewing.

The series will be available to stream on Netflix from August 26, and the enticing new trailer gives us a bit more insight into what to expect. The show looks set to be a blend of comedy, topical issues including racism and privilege, and a healthy dose of that Rachel-Ross sort of romance. Will they or won’t they end up together? We’ll have to watch to find out.

Here’s everything you need to know about Partner Track….

What is Partner Track about?

So the TV series is based on the highly acclaimed novel of the same name by novelist Helen Wan and focuses on the highs, lows, loves, and losses of lawyer Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho). Wan’s website describes the book as being about “a woman of color learning to navigate the alien culture at a powerful global law firm. It’s about chasing ambition while attempting to live authentically at work and remaining true to ourselves and our values.”

Ingrid is a first-generation Korean American woman and the first lawyer in her family, but the route to a successful legal career is rarely a smooth one. As the synopsis reads: “With the support of her friends, she battles through workplace challenges to break through the glass ceiling on her path to become partner. But will her drive and ambition leave room for love?”
