Prince William hasn’t been America’s favorite royal in quite some time, but perhaps his upcoming trip to the States will change all of that. As previously reported, America’s second-favorite prince will be journeying to the land of the free for this year’s Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Boston in the fall. But this will be no in-and-out deal. The future monarch has decided to extend his American visit, starting with a trip to New York City.
According to People, before going to Boston, the Duke of Cambridge will be in New York City on September 21 for the Earthshot Prize Innovation summit, which will be attended by last year’s Earthshot winners and this year’s finalists. The event will be cohosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies, and both William and Mike Bloomberg (yes, that Mike Bloomberg) will address the guests.

The duke and duchess had previously announced, via royal Twitter decree, that they would both be in Boston for the awards ceremony, but there’s no word yet on whether Kate Middleton will also be joining her husband in NYC. We were already aware that William and Kate had been looking into extending their trip into a US tour, with a stop in Washington, DC, among the possibilities, according to Yahoo! News.
And before you ask, there has been no reported change in Prince William’s plans to not visit his brother and American sister-in-law in California. “They’re planning a packed schedule with no private time for visits,” royal expert Neil Sean said, via Express, even though it will be the Cambridges’ first visit to the United States in eight years. Then again, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to People, don’t have current plans to visit William and Kate on their upcoming trip to the UK either.
