Zendaya’s Look at the US Open Is a Lesson in Transitional Dressing

Zendaya was in the stands at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Wednesday, August 31, to see Serena Williams triumph over world number-two Anett Kontaveit in the final tournament of her history-making singles career. Naturally, Serena shone under the floodlights in her custom Nike tennis dress with its six-layer skirt—a nod to her six US Open victories—but her famous fan also delivered on the spectator fashion front.

Where Wimbledon style is all about preppy tailoring, floaty summer dresses, and—at least if you’re the Duchess of Cambridge—polka dots, Zendaya arrived at the tournament in a casual outfit that ticked all the boxes when it comes to successful transitional dressing.

Zendaya was in the stands to cheer on Serena Williams at the US Open.

The Euphoria star made her silky, lace-edged slip dress autumn-appropriate by adding a chunky knit sweater and a pair of black Lauryn boots from Aurora James’s brand Brother Vellies. The vibe was low-key, but there was no danger of Zendaya blending into the crowd—even in an oversized polo neck. Just check out the dangerously high side slit on that floral dress.
